“Bump the app before you bump in bed”. A team of software engineers at the University of Iceland have produced an Android app called IslendigaApp. The app, which was built after the publicly accessible genealogy website was scraped, is just what an Island nation of 300,000 people need. Along with the usual search function the app features a “bump” function. Two users tap phones to see how close they are related. Too close a match and an “incest alarm” will sound. The app has received rave reviews and currently has a 4.5 out of 5 rating on Google Play store. What better way to avoid sleeping with close relatives?
